Sabrina Church is a Master of Planning student with a Concentration in Sustainable Land Use (Class of 2017) with a previous Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science and Sustainability from the University of New Haven. She grew up in Connecticut and moved to LA to attend USC. She is currently interested in infill development and sustainability planning with a focus on environmental goals. She became interested in USC based on the network as well as the International Lab experience. She cannot wait to expand my knowledge in an international sense and is looking forward to looking at planning in both international and domestic viewpoints combined with sustainability interests.

Margaret de Larios is a first-year MPA candidate studying urban sustainability in a framework of inter-sector collaboration. She chose USC Price because it offers a rigorous curriculum on administration in public, private and nonprofit sectors, and because the professionals-oriented structure is very compatible with maintaining full-time work. Her professional goal is to identify paths to harnessing the many forces for good in LA into a collaborative process that benefits the economic and environmental health of the region.

She is a proud Trojan.

Alicia Gonzalez is a first year Masters of Public Policy student from Irvine, California. While working on her honors thesis in Anthropology, she became interested in policy issues, particularly relating to the health field. She is currently interested in researching health reform, pharmaceutical development and health disparities.

Lisa is recognized as a Dean’s Merit Scholar and a Latino Alumni Association Scholar. She specializes in health and plans on working for equal access to health care, diversity in administration, social justice, and effective service delivery of clinical interventions to build healthy communities. She is a part of the Programming Committee for the Student of Color and Allies Police Forum (SCAPF), a social justice policy forum organized by students from both of her departments. She is also part of Price Latino Student Association, Latino Social Work Caucus, and Clinical Social Work Caucus.

Ali Limonadi is a 1st year graduate student pursuing her masters of Public Policy with a concentration in Media and Communications Policy. She currently holds the position of staff editor of USC’s Southern California Policy Review Journal and spends most of her time on campus in the Doheny Memorial library studying for her classes or working on group projects.

Raul Martinez is a first year MPP student at USC. He is a full time graduate student and full time mathematics teacher via Teach for America. Raul is primarily interested in economic policy and education policy. He is actively involved at USC as an executive editor for the Southern California Policy Review Journal and as a member of GPAC’s Finance Committee. Raul chose to attend USC due to the vast opportunities to put policy theory into practice in Los Angeles. In his spare time he enjoys running and boxing.

She is the President of USC’s Homeland Security Student Organization and hopes to work for the Federal Aviation Administration after graduating.

Having worked for the federal government including in Congress and as a White House intern, Victoria chose USC for the school’s incredible local government emphasis. Although the federal government proved interesting, Victoria has found that state and local governments are where one finds some of the most active and engaged citizens working toward creating strong communities- and believes USC understands how important it is to train leaders in this field.

Arpita Sharma is a dual Master in Public Policy and Master of Planning student at USC Price. She is pursuing a concentration in Sustainable Land Use with a particular interest in how local policy and planning decisions impact low-income communities of color. Currently, she is a Student Assistant at the METRANS Transportation Center, writing articles, developing podcasts and marketing materials to promote the field of transportation to students. Here other interests include biking, cooking, meditation, and exploring urban art in Los Angeles.

What attracted Felicia to USC’s MHA program was the residency component. She was enthusiastic to receive the hands-on work experience requirement and finds this element an important part of her education. Her interest within health administration is improving the quality and patient satisfaction. A main reason she chose USC aside from academics is the diverse student body in which she is able to interact.

Juan Galvan is a first-year student concentrating in Social & Community Planning. Besides USC always being his dream school, he chose Price because he felt that it offered exactly what he was looking for in a planning program. He wanted something more practical and interactive, and felt Price offered what I was seeking. Additionally, location was a determining factor because he believes there is no better place to become an urban planner than Los Angeles.

His interests revolve around Affordable Housing, Community Development, Social Innovation, and Real Estate Development. Juan feels that urban planning offers a lot of room for creativity, and developing new ideas and practice. As a young professional in planning, the opportunity to wear multiple hats is something that is really appealing to him.

Olivia graduated in 2014 with a major in Sociology and a Minor in Urban and Regional Studies. She is currently pursuing a Master of Planning degree with hopes of eventually working in the affordable housing sector. Olivia chose USC Price because of the emphasis on practical application of planning theory in real-world settings and the proximity to downtown Los Angeles and other diverse neighborhoods. She feels she is already thriving and believes Price provides the ideal setting to study mitigate issues affecting urban areas and to generate tangible housing solutions.

Christopher is pursuing a concentration in transportation and infrastructure planning. The main reason Christopher feels he chose to attend USC was because of the financial support, which has allowed him to pursue a program without taking on an extensive financial burden. Additionally, he felt the transportation concentration offers academic opportunities and outstanding faculty, which was extremely appealing to him. Finally, USC’s location in L.A. really attracted him as an aspiring planner looking to work in a large city with various career options.

Zen is a first-year student concentrating in Economic and Real Estate Development. As an international student who grew up in Hong Kong, he says he was fascinated by the friendly atmosphere and the “Trojans caring for Trojans” culture. He feels the classmates, staffs, professors were more than happy to help out as long as you reach out to them. He mentioned that his attraction to Price was strongly through the career workshops, mentorship programs, and networking events through the Office of Career Services.
