Concentration: Sustainable Planning
Email: roachfor@usc.edu

David is currently a junior in the Policy, Planning, and Development degree program at USC Price. As a high school student from a Dallas area suburb, he wasn’t quite sure what he wanted to study in college. Urban development and transportation systems was always an interest, but many universities only offered this discipline in their graduate schools and suggested completing a political science degree instead. While he does enjoy learning about the political system in the US, he didn’t think it was practical to wait four years before taking courses on what he’s been passionate about for years. Ultimately, he chose Price because the school allowed him to focus on studying sustainable planning, rather than waiting until he started a master’s degree. At Price, he has not only learned what it takes to be an effective policymaker or how to work with communities on improving their neighborhoods, but he has done so in one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world. The faculty at Price do an incredible job incorporating the theories of urban development with practical examples happing in Los Angeles and from case studies of cities all over the world. Between all of the great faculty members, a huge metropolitan region that provides both fun and research, and being part of the Trojan Family, he is very happy with his decision to come to USC Price for undergraduate studies.
