USC Price School of Public Policy

Mentorships and Professional Development

LEAP mentorship

Across USC, the alumni network is without a doubt one of the universities’ strongest assets, and USC Price is no different. The LEAP Program will expand upon the Price School’s current professional development resources by establishing a formal mentorship program that will pair undergraduate students with a Price alumnus working in their field of interest. Mentors will serve as role models, offer advice on academic and career goals, and guide students as they begin to develop their own professional networks.

Additionally, the LEAP Program will provide students with opportunities to shadow various career opportunities through a spring-break externship program. An externship is a volunteer “shadowing” opportunity for students to spend three to five days during their spring break actively working in a specific career field. Currently offered to graduate students and undergrads of junior or senior level status, externship opportunities will be extended to all Price students through the LEAP Program, allowing undergraduate students at any time during their academic experience to refine their career goals while developing deeper relationships with potential employers.
