‘Healthcare reforms are real prescription for American economic growth’
The Hill published an op-ed by USC Trustee Leonard D. Schaeffer and Dana Goldman of the USC Schaeffer Center on Health Policy & Economics on how reforming the health care system can spur economic growth. “A fiscal crisis could lead to blunt cuts in healthcare funding. If the system has not been redesigned, however, we will simply be buying less from the same poorly performing health care delivery system,” they wrote. Schaeffer and Goldman, who are both faculty at the USC Price School, recommend reducing wasteful spending, focusing on prevention instead of treatment and encouraging providers to rein in costs.
