Faculty op-ed in US News & World Report:
McFadden: Switching drug plans could save seniors, government billions
U.S. News & World Report published an op-ed by USC Presidential Professor of Health Economics Daniel McFadden of the USC Schaeffer Center and a colleague on how older adults can save by switching insurance plans each year during the fall enrollment period. “The designers of [Medicare] Part D had hoped that beneficiaries would eventually learn how to navigate the system and make it more efficient. There is, however, little evidence that consumers’ choices improve over time,” he wrote. McFadden also highlighted suggestions to get seniors engaged in annually selecting a plan.
