SPPD Updates in Washington, D.C. and Sacramento
Adam Rose, research professor at the USC School of Policy, Planning, and Development, spoke at a Congressional briefing sponsored by the Environmental and Energy Study Institute on “Stakeholder Based Climate and Energy Actions: Economic Impacts of National Policies and Measures.” The briefing was held on April 23.
Professor Genevieve Giuliano, senior associate dean for research and technology at SPPD, participated in a meeting of the Intelligent Transportation Systems Program Advisory Committee to the U.S. Department of Transportation on April 7. Giuliano, holder of the Margaret and John Ferraro Chair in Effective Local Government, is the director of the METRANS Transportation Center.
SPPD research professor Stephen Hora, director of the USC Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events (CREATE), met with Tara O’Toole, under secretary for the science and technology directorate of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 26. He also discussed the center’s work with staff in the office of Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-CA) and the House Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, Cybersecurity, and Science and Technology on March 25.
SPPD senior fellow Richard G. Little, director of the USC Keston Institute for Public Finance and Infrastructure, and Ron Gastelum, chair of the institute’s advisory board, held a policy briefing March 22 in the State Capitol. They reviewed the Keston Institute’s current initiatives in public finance, water management, and improved project delivery. The briefing was intended to inform the state legislature of the institute’s on-going activities and solicit feedback on other areas of interest.
