Professor Gary Painter has accepted an appointment to serve as the Director of Social Policy at the USC Sol Price Center for Social Innovation, effective Jan. 1, 2015, Dean Jack H. Knott announced today.
“This is a new position that will help us realize the full potential of the Sol Price Center,” Dean Knott said. “In this role, Dr. Painter will provide leadership to the Center overall, but particularly in the area of social policy and urban and community development, as well as the broader field of social innovation.”
Painter’s significant contributions to the USC Price School include his current roles as Director of Graduate Programs in Public Policy and the Director of Research in the Lusk Center for Real Estate. At the end of this academic year, he will step down from these roles.
His research focuses on important social issues, including housing and urban economics, which makes him especially suited to guide the Sol Price Center into the future, Knott noted.
