Michael Hunn is currently the Senior Vice-President and Regional Chief Executive of Providence Health and Services California Region – part of Providence Health and Services, Renton, Washington.

The California Region includes services provided by: Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, Mission Hills, California; Providence Saint Joseph’s Medical Center, Burbank, California; Providence Tarzana Medical Center, Tarzana, California; Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance, Torrance, California; Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro, San Pedro, California; Providence Medical Institute (1206L Medical Foundation) and the affiliated Providence Medical Group -South Bay and the Valley; Facey Medical Foundation (1206L Medical Foundation) and the affiliated Facey Medical Group in the Valley; Providence Trinity Care Hospice (Adult and Pediatric) – South Bay, Orange County and the Valley; St. Elizabeth’s Care Center, Burbank, California; Providence High School, Burbank, California; three Providence 501c3 Foundations – South Bay and the Valley and all other related entities and community clinics. Providence serves nearly two million patients on an annual basis in its Ministries throughout Los Angeles.

Providence Health and Services – Southern California is the second largest market share provider of health care and the ninth largest employer, with over 12,000 employees and 4000 affiliated physicians, in Los Angeles County.

Michael holds a Masters Degree in Systematic Theology with a concentration in Morals also commonly known as “Bio-Medical Ethics” from Kenrick Theological Seminary, Saint Louis, Missouri. He also holds an undergraduate degree in Liberal Arts with a major in Philosophy and a minor in American History from Cardinal Glennon College, Saint Louis, Missouri. Michael has been a Hospital President and Chief Executive for over twenty years serving various Hospitals in Southern California since 1991.

  • Michael is a Governing Board Member of the Southern California Hospital Association and is Chair of the Board for 2012. Michael is on the Executive committee of the Hospital Association of Southern California (HASC). Michael is also a member of the California Hospital Association (CHA) and is on the CHA Executive Committee 2011-2013. Michael also serves as the board chair of the Catholic Alliance of Health Systems in California and is a board member of the National Health Foundation of California. Michael also serves on a number of health care policy advisory panels.
  • Michael speaks routinely on Future Trends in Healthcare Delivery as well as on Bio-Medical Ethics and End-of-Life decision-making topics.
  • Michael has also spoken on behalf of Patient Safety and Quality for co-sponsored events by the Joint Commission, CMS-Medicare, the Department of Defense and the AHRQ-Quality Institute. Michael has also participated in key Roundtable discussion about Patient Safety and has served on a task force with the Joint Commission on Leadership Accountability.
