MHA Specialization: Health Policy Analysis

Health Policy AnalysisStudents develop understanding of microeconomic theory as it applies to health, and the scientific methods that support decision making in health management and policy settings. The Health Policy specialization builds on the health policy courses all MHA students take as part of the required core curriculum.

Health Policy Analysis Core
(Required of all MHA students)

  • Problems and Issues in the Health Field (PPD 509)
  • Economics for Policy, Planning, and Development (PPD 501a)
  • Economic Concepts Applied to Health (PPD 514)
  • Modeling and Operations Research (PPD 557)

Students select 8 units from one or two of the following cluster:

Health Policy Analysis Specialization

  • Economic Approaches to Health Policy Analysis
  • Methods and Applications of Health Services Research
  • Urban Health Policy (PPD 606)
