Patrick Hays is an adjunct professor at the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy. Currently, he is the Chair of the Board of Directors for Trinity Health, a national healthcare organization in Michigan.
For five years, Professor Hays also served as the President and CEO of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, which was the nation’s largest health insurer at the time. He helped to transform the company into the nation’s first managed health care strategic alliance. Prior to his administrative work in hospitals and executive positions with health care companies, Professor Hays served in the United States Army Medical Service Corps where he rose from rank of second lieutenant to captain.
Professor Hays was also the founding Chairman of the Health Services Advisory Board at USC’s Sacramento campus. Prior to serving as a clinical professor in Health Services Administration at USC, he taught at Arizona State University and the University of California, Berkeley.
Professor Hays earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Tulsa, and a master of health administration from the University of Minnesota.
