Length of Degree and Completion Rates

Most students pursue the MPA program as full-time students and complete the program in two-three years. Students may also enroll in the MPA program as “part-time” and may complete the program in three-five years. The time limit for completing a master’s degree at USC is five years. The average time to complete the MPA program for all students is 1.89 years*.

Students who entered the MPA program between 2009 and 2013 have an extremely high completion rate of 88%*. Of the students who have enrolled in the program between 2009 and 2013, 72% completed the program within two years, 86% within three years, and 88% within five years. The program’s overall retention rate is 96%*.

*Based on students entering in AY 2009 through AY 2013. An Academic Year is defined as the fall term of the given year through the following summer term.
