The Master of Public Administration program has two prerequisites:
- Undergraduate Social Sciences Courses (12 units)
These prerequisites must be satisfied within the first 12 units. Most students satisfy the social science requirement as undergraduates. Those who do not may take 12 units of social sciences at any accredited college or university.
The USC Price faculty requires that all entering students demonstrate proficiency in relevant statistical methods. The statistics prerequisite can be satisfied in one of two ways:
- Statistics Course Taken Prior to Enrollment in the MPA
Completion of a college-level statistics course with a grade of “B” or better taken within three years of matriculation in the MPA program
- PPD 502x – Statistical Foundations for Public Management and Policy
If students have not completed a college-level statistics course with a grade of “B” or better within three years of matriculation in the MPA program, they will need to enroll in PPD 502x and receive a grade of “B” or better.
Social Sciences Prerequisite
Students admitted to the MPA program are required to have completed at least 12 semester units of undergraduate social sciences courses. Students who are deficient in these courses are informed in the letter of admission.
The social sciences prerequisite units may be taken at any accredited college or university. Students must earn a grade of “C” or better, and the courses must be completed within the first 12 units of enrollment in the MPA program.
