Sustainable Planning Track

While the world confronts climate change, local communities must develop systems to maintain a high quality of life while accounting for environmental dangers. Urban planners may specialize in finding place-based solutions to land use issues and design more sustainable communities.

Students choosing this track will confront some of the society’s most pressing challenges. Looking through prisms of transportation, economic development, the environment, and social equity, they learn how to use geographic information systems to analyze issues, gain knowledge about participatory approaches to community change, and prepare to work with a wide range of professionals to ignite environmentally friendly change.
