Southers’s op-ed in The Hill discusses challenges of policing in America’s democracy

July 13, 2016

The Hill ran an op-ed by Erroll Southers, Director of Homegrown Violent Extremism Studies for the Safe Communities Institute at the USC Price School of Public Policy, about the difficulties law enforcement faces when policing public demonstrations. “If we can build relationships and help communities understand the considerations that go into policing a protest, we can achieve the peace and safety all of us — police and citizens — desire,” he wrote.
