Grade Point Average Requirement
To maintain good academic standing and receive a degree, students must maintain a threshold grade point average. Outlined below are the requirements for graduate and undergraduate students.
A minimum grade of 2.0 (“C”) is required in a course to receive graduate credit. Work graded “C–” or below is not acceptable for subject or unit credit toward any master’s or doctoral program.
A cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on all units attempted at USC toward a graduate degree is required for graduation.
For additional information, please go to the Graduate Student Requirements for Graduation section of the USC Catalogue.
A grade point average of at least 2.0 (“C”) on all baccalaureate units attempted at USC, as well as on the combined USC–transfer GPA, is required for all undergraduate degrees. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 in all upper division courses for the major is also required, regardless of the department in which the courses are taken. The university will not deviate from policies governing the calculation of the grade point average through inclusion or exclusion of coursework.
