President of the U.S.-Japan Council
The Global Ambassador Award recognizes an individual who best represents the mission and expertise of the School in a global setting. In awarding this honor to Irene Hirano, the Price School recognizes her exceptional achievements serving as the President of the U.S.–Japan Council, which enhances relations with the U.S. and Japan through people-to-people connections. In addition, we recognize her outstanding leadership role as the former CEO and President of the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles, and her service with prominent philanthropic and nonprofit boards across the country, including the Ford Foundation, The Kresge Foundation, the Smithsonian Institution, and the President’s Committee on the Arts & Humanities, among others.

Sol Price Award
Chairman and CEO of KFG Investment Company
The Sol Price Award recognizes the lifetime achievement of a business leader and entrepreneur who also has made a significant philanthropic impact on communities and social policy. In selecting Michael Keston to receive the Sol Price Award, we recognize his exceptional business achievements as a successful real estate executive responsible for the acquisition, development, and management of commercial properties, homes, and apartments throughout Southern California. Additionally, we are pleased to honor his past leadership on the Board of Directors of the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, the Board of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, and the Los Angeles Conservancy. Lastly, we recognize Michael’s generous philanthropic contributions to the Price School, including his leadership in the establishment of the former Keston Institute for Public Finance and Infrastructure, as well as the recently established Keston Family Chair in Global Real Estate.

The Vision and Leadership Award is awarded to an individual whose life and work demonstrates exemplary contributions to a field that is directly related to the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy. We are pleased to honor Kirby Dick with this award. Throughout his remarkable career, Kirby Dick has brought important social and policy issues to the forefront of popular discourse through incisive and powerful documentaries. Through his courageous approach to investigative filmmaking, Kirby Dick recognizes the power that media and investigative filmmaking can have on real-world policy changes, directly working to make the world a more just and equitable place for all.
