California to push the sale of electric trucks

World Today

In another first-in-the-nation move to tackle air pollution and climate change, California will require automakers to sell more electric trucks starting in 2024.

The Advanced Clean Truck regulation, approved last month by the California Air Resources Board, will gradually increase the market share for electric trucks until 2045, when all new trucks sold in the state should be zero-emissions.

Environmentalists and climate change activists celebrated the decision, which will also be adopted in at least 15 other states.

But some truck owners running small businesses remain anxious.
