Dear Price Community,
I have been closely following the situation surrounding the Coronavirus and the effects it is having on family and friends of those in the Price Community. I know that this is a difficult and stressful time for many members of our student body, faculty, and staff.
I am especially concerned about the situation in China. In case you hadn’t heard, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention recently issued a Level 3 travel warning for all of China, meaning that travelers avoid all nonessential travel there. In response, USC is taking the precaution of prohibiting all university-sponsored student travel to China right now, and recommending that faculty and staff avoid nonessential travel. We have a lab course this semester with a trip to Shanghai in the summer. In light of the uncertainties and difficulties of planning at present, Professor Eric Heikkila, who coordinates our labs through the Price Office of Global Engagement, is working to move the international work to another location. We will avoid disruption of student schedules to the extent possible.
During this challenging time, my office will be monitoring the situation and will be in touch as we have other news to share. I also wish to remind members of the Price Community that the Office of Campus Support and Intervention is available to assist faculty, students, and staff who may be experiencing difficulties or need emotional support. The office can be reached at: https://campussupport.usc.edu/.
