Biographical sketch

Dr. Goldman holds the Leonard D. Schaeffer Director’s Chair at the University of Southern California and is the founding director of the Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics. He is a distinguished professor of public policy, pharmacy, and economics. His research lies at the intersection of health economics and health policy, with an emphasis on improving insurance design. He is the author of over 200 articles and book chapters, and his research has been published in leading medical, economic, health policy, and statistics journals. He is a health policy advisor to the Congressional Budget Office and a member of the MacArthur Research Network on an Aging Society. He serves on the editorial boards of Health Affairs and the American Journal of Managed Care, and is a founding editor of the Forum for Health Economics and Policy. Dr. Goldman is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and a past recipient of the National Institute for Health Care Management Research Foundation award for excellence in health policy, the Alice S. Hersh New Investigator Award recognizing contributions of a young scholar to the field of health services research, and the Eugene Garfield Economic Impact Prize.
