Our Resolve

The USC Price School Initiative on Diversity, Social Justice and Inclusion underscores our core values of respect for differences and tolerance for all people, cultures, identities, and perspectives. We believe that in upholding our commitment to address these important issues, we advance the well-being of those involved with our institution and society as a whole.

Launched in December 2015, the initiative expands USC Price’s many existing activities that engage students in promoting social justice and celebrate the richness that diversity adds to our academic community. It is coordinated and implemented by a school-wide task force comprised of faculty, staff, and students. Efforts focus on but are not limited to five principal areas:

  • Hire diverse faculty and staff by an inclusive approach that reaches beyond traditional advertising outlets
  • Recruit a diverse student body through outreach, scholarships, and partnerships
  • Foster a supportive environment for diversity in the school through mentorship and professional development programs
  • Expand diversity as a key policy issue of academic, educational, and scholarly interest
  • Support outreach activities that engage the school in shaping the public dialogue on these issues

As a policy school, we have a moral responsibility to address issues of diversity and social justice through both candid dialogue and concrete action. Furthermore, we take pride in teaching students that part of being a member of the Trojan Family is their commitment to good citizenship in a global context. We strive to advance an open and inclusive campus climate that ensures equality and respect for all who stand among us — regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or veteran status.

We encourage participation in this effort by all members of our Price School community. Add your voice and ideas to this ongoing dialogue, which is fundamental to the societal progress called for in our mission.
