Dear Fellow MRED Graduates,
A little over a week ago, you were invited to attend the first event in the Athenian Society’s Dean’s Speaker Series for the 2009-2010 season, and I’d like to encourage you to join us, in collaboration with Majestic Realty, for this reception and presentation surrounding the proposed NFL football stadium in the City of Industry. Scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, the event is certain to be a valuable experience.
A philanthropic endeavor, the Athenian Society (dedicated to the advancement of issues central to the continued success of SPPD student and alumni programs at USC) was formed in early 2008 under the leadership of USC Alumni President Dick DeBeikes and SPPD Dean Jack Knott by representatives of all disciplines of USC’s School of Policy, Planning, and Development. Focused on enhancing our already successful student and alumni programs, the Athenian Society is bringing together alumni and faculty from across the SPPD platform in an annual series of events designed to foster networking within and across disciplines, to enhance lines of communication between faculty and alumni, and to utilize the resources of the SPPD program to open doors to industry and governance within the Southern California region.
Our inaugural season was, by all accounts, a huge success. With informative networking opportunities surrounding events at LA Live, Los Angeles’ City Hall, and the MTA, attendees were personally invited to look inside some of the most dynamic and complex projects and organizations in the country – and with the region’s proposed NFL football stadium first on this year’s agenda, this season’s Dean’s Speaker Series looks to be even more exciting.
Attendance and parking are complimentary, and all interested in the support of the SPPD are welcome. If you would like to attend, please let me know that you are interested so that I can keep an eye out for you, and R.S.V.P. using the following link: https://priceschool.usc.edu/events/nfl_overview.html.
Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions about the event or the Athenian Society, and I look forward to seeing you there.
