When students apply to the Washington Semester Program, they are required to submit a research proposal that specifies a policy issue, or national or international project or program they would like to learn more about. This topic should be related to the field in which the student wishes to earn credit. When students are selected into a particular directed research field, they will be assigned to a GWU faculty member who has a special expertise in that subject area. Students will meet individually with their faculty advisor to discuss the progress on their project.
Students will receive Business Administration (BUAD), Economics (ECON), International Relations (IR), Policy, Planning, and Development (PPD), or Political Science (POSC) credit for the directed research.
