The USC Sol Price School of Public Policy educates and trains students to become leaders who can create multidisciplinary approaches to the challenging and complex issues of governing, managing and building contemporary urban communities.
USC Price’s professional master’s degree programs join theory with practice and emphasize experiential and professional learning. Graduate-level students have considerable latitude to design their own programs in order to pursue their specialized areas of interest and further their professional development.
USC Price’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) program is one of the oldest and most distinguished programs of its kind in the country. It continues to ascend the national rankings for top public management programs. In 2016, it ranked fourth nationwide among public management/administration programs, according to U.S. News & World Report. USC Price also offers an Online Masters of Public Administration.
The Master of Nonprofit Leadership and Management (MNLM) program is designed both for those with several years of work experience in the nonprofit sector as well as those intending to embark upon careers in this area. The MNLM program is developed in recognition of the increasing importance of philanthropy and the nonprofit sector in governance and public problem solving – from service delivery to advocacy and from community building to social change.
The Master of Public Policy (MPP) program is renowned for bringing together leaders from the public, private and nonprofit sectors to design solutions to today’s pressing social problems. It offers a comprehensive degree that integrates public policy leadership, analysis, evaluation, and management. Core courses and specialized electives provide students with in-depth knowledge of critical policy issues.
The Master of Planning (MPL) program provides students with a core of knowledge that underlies the key forms and applications of urban planning. The MPL program’s outstanding curriculum and rich institutional and intellectual environment prepare students for a wide range of careers in the field.
USC Price’s Master of Real Estate Development (MRED) program is carefully designed to bring together the three main elements of real estate development: design, finance, and policy. Students are exposed to the full range of development functions – market analysis, finance and deal structuring, site planning, and project management and operations – and to all product types, such as residential, commercial, retail, office and industrial.
Boasting strong ties to the professional healthcare community, the Master of Health Administration (MHA) program successfully bridges sound academics to the field of practice. The program’s Health Advisory Board includes senior-level executives of healthcare organizations from across the state. In addition, MHA students have direct access to those who are shaping healthcare and healthcare policy throughout the region, state, nation, and the world.
The EMHA program provides a tremendous opportunity for seasoned clinical and management professionals to advance or transition their careers in the dynamic field of healthcare. Participants sharpen their business skills by gaining exposure to and in-depth knowledge of the latest theories and best practices in contemporary health management. It is flexibly designed to accommodate the schedules of fully employed mid-to senior-level professionals, enabling them to work and earn their degrees at their pace, as they continue to progress in their careers.
The Executive Master of Leadership degree is designed for professionals with five or more years of significant management or leadership experience. The EML program teaches effective leadership practices through a curriculum with three distinguishing features: Leadership through core values; a multi-disciplinary problem-solving approach; and an emphasis on transformational leadership that connects the public, private, and nonprofit sectors
The International Public Policy and Management Program (IPPAM) is a master’s degree program at USC for mid-career professionals who are working in government and the social sectors, who are interested in improving public policy in their countries. The program builds the conceptual and analytical skills important in the design of public policy, while fostering the leadership and managerial skills needed to effectively run the organizations that carry out social sector programs.
