Gunnery Sergeant Taylor J. Farr was born and raised in Sacramento California where he graduated High School in June 2009. Immediately after graduation Gunnery Sergeant Farr joined the Marine Corps leaving to boot camp on the 5th of July 2009. Upon graduating boot camp at MCRD San Diego, Private Farr attended Marine Combat Training in Camp Pendleton California where he was assigned to Kilo Co. In November 2009, Private Farr went to Motor Vehicle Operators Course and Logistical Vehicle School where he was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class.
In February 2010, Private First Class Farr received orders to Marine Wing Support Squadron 371 in Yuma, Arizona. Private First Class Farr was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal in November 2010. Lance Corporal Farr was deployed to the Helmand Province in Afghanistan where he served as Recovery Operator. While deployed Lance Corporal Farr was promoted to the rank of Corporal on November 1st 2011. In March 2013, Corporal Farr checked into 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group where he served as the Chief Dispatcher. Corporal Farr was later promoted to the rank of Sergeant on January 1st 2014. Sgt Farr became the Motor Transport Platoon Sergeant, Assistant Operations Chief and the NCO Council President.
In April 2016 Sergeant Farr checked into Drill Instructor School abroad MCRD San Diego. After completing Drill Instructor School Sergeant Farr was assigned to 3d Battalion India Company were he went on to serve as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. Sergeant Farr also went on to become a 0916 Martial Arts Instructor and 0918 Marine Corps Instructor Trainer of Water Survival. After completing 6 cycles Sergeant Farr went to Support Battalion to serve as a Chief Swim Instructor for Instructional Training Company. Sergeant Farr was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant in June 2018.
In June 2019, Staff Sergeant received orders to 11th Marine Regiment Headquarters Battery in Camp Pendleton California where he served as the Regimental Motor Transport Operations Chief. Staff Sergeant Farr was attached to 1st Marine Division in support of Native Fury 2020 were he deployed to United Arabic of Emirates in January 2020. Staff Sergeant Farr was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in April 2021.
In July 2021, Gunnery Sergeant Farr received orders to his current unit at the University of Southern California where he serves as the as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor.
Gunnery Sergeant Farr’s decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal gold star in lieu of second award and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal gold star in lieu of third award. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology.
