Lt Col Mark Burley is the Commander, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 060, University of Southern California. Lt Col Burley, a Buffalo, NY native, received his commission through the United States Air Force Academy in 2005. He has deployed in support of various contingencies to include the Continuous Bomber Presence, operating out of Andersen AFB, Guam, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, working as Chief of Safety at Thumrait AB, Oman, and Operation INHERENT RESOLVE as the Inspector General for the 332d Air Expeditionary Wing.
Additionally, he has planned USSTRATCOM Bomber Assurance and Deterrence missions operating throughout all 6 Global Combatant Commands. Lt Col Burley worked at the Pentagon as a Political Affairs Specialist leading key International Engagements with 18 partner countries, and also as the Director for the Headquarters Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff Operations Action Group where he unified senior leader strategic communication and advocated key operational priorities across Headquarters Air Force Operations (A3) and the Air Force.
Prior to his current position he was Executive Officer for the Deputy Commander at Air Force Global Strike Command. He advised and assisted the deputy commander on issues affecting 33,700 personnel operating at two numbered air forces, 11 total force wings and the Joint Global Strike Operations Center. Lt Col Burley is a graduate of the US Air Force Weapons School and is a Command Pilot with more than 1,500 hours in the B-52H.
