Michele Daniels is the Head Deputy District Attorney of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Airport Branch Office. She oversees prosecutors and support staff who assist in the prosecution of cases ranging from misdemeanors to the most serious and violent felonies as they help to ensure victims of crime receive the information and resources they need. Her recent appointment to the position of Head Deputy of the Airport Branch is a return to her prosecutorial roots after her recent service in the non-prosecutor role of director at the District Attorney’s Bureau of Victim Services. She has served in a variety of leadership assignments in the District Attorney’s Office including Head Deputy District Attorney of the Training, Sex Crimes and Family Violence Divisions. She helped to oversee the creation of the office’s Complex Child Abuse Section and the implementation of the office’s Electronic Suspected Child Abuse Reporting System Unit. Her experience also includes serving as the chair of the Los Angeles County Domestic Violence Council, chair of the Los Angeles County Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team, and co-chair of the ICAN Child Fatality Team. Ms. Daniels worked with the Office of Violence Prevention to ensure its strategies included victim services and trauma informed care, and recognized the relationship between systemic inequalities, and violence. During 2020 and 2021, she chaired the Legislation Committee of the California Crime Victims’ Assistance Association, an organization of victim advocates dedicated to reducing the trauma suffered by crime victims, their families, and witnesses. Ms. Daniels collaborates with other prosecutors, child abuse experts, and educators to develop student curriculum that encourages healthy and non-violent relationships. She also works with a dedicated team of District Attorney personnel drawn from prosecutors, victim advocates, investigators and support staff on a wellness program that links personnel with resources, information, and activities that contribute to their emotional, psychological, and physical wellness.
