Shared values across diverse settings and cultures make IPPAM a special place. MIPM students celebrate their cultural traditions at festive events such as the Mid-Autumn Festival (hyperlink to our Instagram page) and others that include their children and spouses, making MIPM a family-oriented program.
Global Immersion and Impact
Going beyond having the US as an important reference, we emphasize the global implications of critical public policy issues. MIPM’s biggest strength is our international roster of students who bring unique perspectives from their countries, enriching class discussions and helping build a portfolio of best practices from around the world.
Interdisciplinary
A comparative focus between theory and real-life applications using creative approaches, forward critical thinking, collaboration, and data-driven problem-solving.
Client-based consulting projects challenge students to figure out how they can offer a creative, yet practical approach to addressing an organization’s problem. With the multidimensional nature of most social issues, learning to harness the power of interdisciplinary teams by working collaboratively on these projects is a skill that will have lifelong benefits.
Drawing on LA as a global economic hub and center of international trade, hi-tech, and social innovation, MIPM offers enrichment activities with local, national, and global experts from RAND, the Milken Institute, the city halls of Los Angeles, and some of the other 80 cities located in the region, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and the United Nations.
Flexibility
The program is designed to be adaptable and customizable to a student’s needs expressly for international students from all areas of the world. Students can choose electives from the Price School’s diverse course offering and undertake a master’s project to develop their specialization from a broad range of public policy and social sector issues.
Future Driven
The programs, courses, and opportunities offered, shape holistic knowledge and proficiencies in emerging topics for public policy endeavors. Recent workshops and seminars include big data analysis, climate change policy, machine learning, Python, project management for consulting, regional and country-specific public policy discussions, and leadership development.
Global Impact
Future policymakers & leaders develop a unique skill set to engage with communities and tackle social issues beyond student’s individual countries.
