MRED Career Services

The USC Price School of Public Policy believes the best way to support students in career planning and job search efforts is to familiarize the real estate industry with the value of the Dollinger MRED degree and with the high caliber of our students and alumni. MRED students are provided with several avenues to establish professional contacts with prominent firms and our alumni.

In addition, Dollinger MRED students and alumni have lifelong access to USC’s nationally-recognized Career Center, and the USC Price School Office of Career Services — including the exclusive Handshake job and internship board.

Real Estate Employment Report

Each year the Price School releases a Real Estate Employment Report summarizing the placement and salaries of recent graduates from both the Dollinger MRED and the Bachelor of Science in Real Estate Development.

K. Conly Chi Real Estate Speaker Series

The MRED Speaker Series is one way in which students interact with and learn from real estate professionals and alumni. Throughout the academic year, prominent developers, investors, and other industry leaders come to campus for informal weekly seminars and lunch with students.

Real Estate Industry Night

This annual event – the most significant of its kind in the U.S. – serves as a networking and information session for USC real estate students. Between 60-80 firms from a wide range of real estate sectors get involved, including asset management, banking, brokerage, development, finance, and investment firms. Student members from either the Trojan Real Estate Association or the Graduate Real Estate Association are eligible to participate.

Professional Organizations

Students are encouraged to strengthen ties to the real estate industry through membership in professional organizations. The Urban Land Institute (ULI), the Building Industry Association (BIA), the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and NAIOP are among the organizations that offer useful services, conferences, and publications. Many of the professional organizations offer special rates for student members.

Graduate Real Estate Association

The Graduate Real Estate Association is a university-wide group for graduate students pursuing real estate degrees. Students from the Dollinger MRED program, along with MBA, MUP, Master of Construction Management, and Law students comprise the membership. The GREA’s goals are to provide students with exposure to different careers and opportunities in real estate, link members with real estate professionals, and educate students on market trends.

Professional Designations

Graduates of the USC Price Dollinger MRED program are eligible for real estate professional designations. Academic coursework from Dollinger MRED can be used towards the following:

California Broker License — Under an articulation agreement between the California Department of Real Estate and USC, certain RED courses fulfill a portion of the requirements for a real estate broker license.

Alumni

USC Dollinger MRED alumni aspire to shape cities. Our graduates typically begin their careers as development project managers or in the acquisitions/asset management of existing properties. Many of alumni advance to leadership roles within established firms. Nearly one-third of our graduates form their own entrepreneurial real estate business.
