Biography

Professor Rabinovitz has extensive experience in policy analysis, serving as a consultant to public and private clients on subjects ranging from school desegregation, rent control, and the homeless to workplace hazards, product liability, and resolution of disputed fishing rights. She was Principal Investigator in a research project funded by the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on the impact on the Northridge earthquake on affordable housing. She has also served frequently as an expert witness in major mass tort litigation cases.

Professional Activities:
Professor Rabinovitz is a member of the National Academy of Public Administration and a Certified Planner by the American Institute of Certified Planners. She received the James E. Webb Urban Research Award from the National Academy of Public Administration, and has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management and the Journal of Urban Affairs. She has served as a Special Master or Referee for various courts in the Los Angeles school desegregation case, the rezoning of the city, and as a party or court-appointed expert in cases involving asbestos disease, breast implants and fishing rights.

She is the author of Comparative Urban Politics (Prentice-Hall, 1980), Minorities in Suburbs (D.C. Heath, 1977), and City Politics and Planning (Atherton Press, 1969). Her articles have appeared in California Policy ChoicesPolicy SciencesJournal of Products Liability, and National Civic Review.
