Certificate in Long-Term Care
The USC Price School of Public Policy offers two health management certificate programs:
- Administration of Long-term Care Programs
- Management of Ambulatory Care Systems in specialized areas of healthcare administration
The precipitous growth of an aging global population has brought enormous demand for quality long-term care. With every decision, health service industries must account for evolving care delivery systems and the ever-changing regulatory environment. This opens rife opportunities for professionals who bring effective new strategies — both theoretical and practical — to managed care. The USC Price graduate Certificate in Long-term Care provides a curriculum that brings students to the forefront of knowledge in this exciting field.
Required Courses (16 units)
Students are required to complete the following courses:
- Perspectives on a Changing Society: An Introduction to Aging (GERO 500)
- Legal Issues in Health Care Delivery (PPD 513)
- Quality of Care Concepts (PPD 518)
- Management of Long-Term Care Organizations (PPD 601)
- Financial Management of Health Services (PPD 510a) or
Financial Management of Nonprofit Organizations (PPDE 645) - One 2-unit elective (consult program staff)
Admission Requirements and Application Procedures
Current USC Graduate Students — Applicants for the Certificate in Long-term Care who are currently enrolled in a graduate program at USC (and are in good standing with a 3.0 GPA ) need only to submit the appropriate paperwork for adding the certificate program, which may be obtained from the student services advisor in RGL 102.
Prospective Applicants — Applicants who have not matriculated at USC must make a formal application at the USC Graduate Admission website.
Applicants must submit the following items:
- Official transcripts from ALL institutions attended must be sent directly to [email protected].
- Resume (upload via online application)
- Letter of Recommendation (uploaded via online application)
