David Brady

Biography

Brady is a professor in the department of Public Policy and Management at the Sol Price School of Public Policy. His research focuses on poverty, social policy, racial inequality, immigration, and policymaking. His scholarship aims to contribute to theoretical debates, make an impact on public understanding and with policymakers, ask innovative and big questions, and maintain high standards of rigor. He teaches classes in statistics, public policy theory, the politics of policymaking, and public policy analysis. He is the author of Rich Democracies, Poor People and the co-editor of The Oxford Handbook of the Social Science of Poverty (both Oxford University Press). Brady also has a courtesy appointment in the department of Sociology. He has previously been on the faculty at Duke University, the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, and the University of California, Riverside. He earned his PhD in Sociology and Public Affairs at Indiana University.
