Biography
Alexus Dibrell is from Los Angeles, California and a 1st-year graduate student at the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy in the Program on Nonprofit Leadership and Management. She currently serves as Program Director at Curls, Coils, and Crowns, a nonprofit that works to create a safe, positive, and affirming space where Black girls learn who they are and love who they are—unapologetically. In this role, Alexus oversees programming across 26 sites, trains and manages facilitators, leads communications and media strategy, and builds partnerships that create safe, affirming spaces where young people can thrive. Her mission is to build liberating pathways for Black youth and families, centering equity, healing, and uplifting through education, culture, and leadership. Beyond Curls, Coils, and Crowns, Alexus is developing initiatives in mentorship, literacy, and healing-centered engagement for youth. Her vision is to scale nonprofit programs that serve children and families in Southern California while shaping policy and systems to advance equity and community enrichment. While her work begins with Black and Brown youth, Alexus’ goal is to contribute to a society where every child and family can access safety, confidence, and growth that leaves a legacy of resilience, equity, and collective flourishing.
