Biography

Colonel Perry was born in Rome, New York and grew up in South Florida.  In June of 1989, he enlisted in the Army Reserve and served as a Combat Engineer.  In April of 1991, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and attended Boot Camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. 

Colonel Perry reported to 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion as a Stinger Gunner in November of 1991. As a team leader, he deployed with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) and participated in Operation PROVIDE PROMISE.

In June of 1994, he was selected for the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training (BOOST) Program and reported to Newport, Rhode Island. In June of 1995, he was selected for the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program and reported to the University of Florida.  He was ordered to Officer Candidate School, Quantico, Virginia in June of 1996.  He graduated from the University of Florida in August of 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant.

Upon completion of The Basic School, he was ordered to the Adjutant’s Course at Camp Johnson, North Carolina.  In June of 1999, Colonel Perry reported to 1st Battalion, 6th Marines as the Battalion S-1 and Legal Officer.  He later deployed as part of the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa, Japan.  In June of 2001, he reported to Marine Corps Recruiting Station Columbia, South Carolina for duty as the Operations and Executive Officer. Colonel Perry was selected for the Special Education Program in July of 2004 and reported to the Naval Postgraduate School, graduating with a Masters of Science in Management in March 2006.

In May of 2006, he reported to Marine Corps Recruiting Command, G-3 for duty as the Market Research and Analysis Officer. In June of 2009, Major Perry reported to Marine Wing Support Group 37 as the Group S-1 and Legal Officer. He deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, G-1 for 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (FWD), Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

In May of 2012, he reported for duty as the Marine Officer Instructor at the University of Memphis, where he served as the Executive Officer for Career Orientation and Training for. In June of 2015, he reported to 3rd Marine Division, Okinawa, Japan for duty as the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-1.

In June 2016, Colonel Perry assumed command of Support Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. Following command, he attended Top Level School at the Air War College in Montgomery, Alabama where he earned a Masters in Strategic Studies in May of 2019.

His Joint Force assignments include: J-35 Plans Officer for INDOPACOM Desk, J-35 Branch Chief for Regional Desks, and J-35 Branch Chief, Global Special Operations Synchronization Branch for United States Special Operations Command, Tampa, Florida from June 2019 to June 2021.  He deployed as the J-1 for Special Operations Joint Task Force in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE, Baghdad, Iraq.  He was designated a Joint Qualified Officer in 2021.

From June 2021 to May 2022, Colonel Perry served as the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-1 for Training and Education Command, Quantico, Virginia.

In August 2022, Colonel Perry assumed command of Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installation West – Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton.

In July 2024, Colonel Perry assumed command of Naval Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, Los Angeles Consortium.

He is married to the former Adrienne Davison of Dunedin, Florida and they have one child, Makenzie.

Colonel Perry’s personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4th award), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3rd Award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award).
