Sergeant Amy Raphael
Biography
Sergeant Amy Raphael is an 18-year veteran of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and currently serves as a Sergeant in Custody Operations at the Intake Release Center (IRC) in Santa Ana. In her current role, she leads multidisciplinary teams, manages critical administrative operations, and ensures compliance, operational readiness, and continuity across facility functions.
Throughout her career, Sgt. Raphael has served in custody, patrol, investigations, and specialized assignments, including as a Custody K-9 handler conducting narcotics detection and contraband searches. She has also served as a Field Training Officer, Special Enforcement Team member, and Investigator, managing complex criminal cases and coordinating with command staff and prosecutors. She was recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) multiple years for her proactive DUI enforcement efforts, including leading the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in DUI arrests. Her professional accomplishments include serving as the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Shooting Team Captain, earning Distinguished Pistol Expert honors, and winning Police Olympics Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals in pistol competitions. Sgt. Raphael holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Master of Arts in Public Administration, and most recently, the Price Center on National Defense and Public Safety’s Public Safety Leadership Program.
Sergeant Raphael remains committed to leadership, mentorship, and advancing excellence in public safety. She is deeply appreciative of her career in law enforcement.
