Biography
Lieutenant Julia Clasby has been a police officer for 16 years and currently serves as the Support Services Bureau Lieutenant for the Seal Beach Police Department, overseeing Records, Parking, Detention, Animal Control, Emergency Services, Hiring, Scheduling, Internal Affairs, and serving as Public Information Officer. Lt. Clasby holds a master’s degree from Cal State Long Beach in Emergency Services Administration, and graduated from California POST Command College Class 71 in 2024.
She is a police wife, full-time mother of three, and the highest-ranking female in the history of the Seal Beach Police Department. In 2023, Lt. Clasby authored the nationally published op-ed “The Mother Cop Dilemma,” and the overwhelming response to this important topic on retaining mothers in law enforcement has led to ongoing work in public speaking, writing, and training—most recently including the development of a California Peace Officers’ Association (CPOA) course.
