Biography

Lilian Coral is a Senior Fellow at New America, driving research and thought leadership for RethinkAI and mobilizing a national network of technical and local experts to advance AI-enabled solutions to public challenges. She previously served as Vice President, Technology & Democracy Programs at New America, and before that held roles as Knight Foundation’s director of national strategy and technology innovation and chief data officer for the City of Los Angeles. Coral has spent nearly 20 years working at the intersection of technology, policy, and the public good. Ms. Coral also serves on the Board of Governors for California’s Community College system and sits on the board of Next City, a nonprofit news organization reporting on solutions for more sustainable, accessible, inclusive and equitable cities.
