Angel Martinez

Biography

Angel Martinez is a first-year Master of Public Policy (MPP) student at USC’s Sol Price School of Public Policy and a proud first-generation graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science with minors in Anthropology and Communication Studies. Selected as an Archer Fellow, he most recently served in the U.S. House of Representatives for Rep. Veronica Escobar (TX-16), where he supported legislative research, drafted policy briefs, and engaged with constituents on pressing issues. His policy and advocacy experience also includes work with the Mark Cuban Foundation and Mellon Foundation–funded research projects, where he contributed to initiatives focused on equity, civic engagement, and community development.

Beyond his policy work, he has held roles with Nissan North America and Pearson Education, gaining experience in corporate philanthropy, grantmaking, and nationwide student engagement across more than 150 campuses. A recipient of the Terry Foundation Scholarship, he graduated in the top 10 of his class with a 4.0 GPA and has served in leadership roles as Treasurer of the Student Government Association, Legislative Director for the Texas Young Democrats, and board member for UT Austin’s Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Engagement. At USC, Angel is eager to build on this broad foundation to advance public service and contribute to the vibrant Los Angeles community.
