Biography

Commander Jabari Williams is a 25-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and is currently assigned to Custody Services Division Headquarters.  A native of Los Angeles, Commander Williams began his law enforcement career in 2000 after graduating from the Sheriff’s Training Academy as a deputy sheriff.

His initial assignments were in Custody operations, after which he transferred to Field Patrol duties at Compton Station.  There, he served in a variety of roles, including Special Assignment Deputy and a Detective.  In 2011, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to Men’s Central Jail.  Two years later, he returned to Compton Station as a sergeant.

In 2015, he was promoted to Lieutenant.  His assignments included Pitchess Detention Center, Custody Services Division Headquarters—where he served as an Executive Aide and Carson Station.  In 2021, he was promoted to Captain of Altadena Station.  He served as Unit Commander the station during the Eaton Fires.  In this capacity, he held overall command of all responding law enforcement units during the critical initial 24-hour period.  His responsibilities included managing public safety operations such as evacuations, enforcing road closures, and coordinating the deployment of additional law enforcement resources from outside agencies.  He also served as the primary liaison for all public communications, ensuring that timely and accurate law enforcement updates were disseminated to the Altadena community.  

In 2025, he advanced to his current position as Commander.  

Commander Williams holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling, both from Southern University A&M in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  He is an avid supporter of educational advancement, with a particular focus on improving literacy and early education programs.  In his personal time, he enjoys attending sporting events, playing various sports, reading, and spending time with his family.
