Andrew Tun

Biography

 Dr. Andrew M. Tun is the Command Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at United States Space Force, Space Systems Command (SSC), Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. In this role, he serves as the principal enterprise technology executive for the USSF acquisition command responsible for all national security space capabilities, overseeing the nation’s preeminent military space acquisition portfolio spanning satellite systems, ground infrastructure, and operational networks. He defines and executes enterprise IT strategy and digital transformation across classified and unclassified systems, governs and prioritizes the command’s direct cybersecurity investment portfolio, architects enterprise Zero Trust frameworks across classified mission systems, and advises three-star command leadership and the Executive Management Team on IT strategy, architecture decisions, cloud modernization, and risk posture. He leads and develops a multidisciplinary cybersecurity and IT organization and serves as a member of the Command Executive Management Team.

A nationally recognized cybersecurity executive and veteran with more than 20 years of progressive leadership across the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community, and the defense industrial base, Dr. Tun brings a rare combination of deep technical expertise and strategic policy acumen. His career includes directing cybersecurity for multibillion dollar classified space and missile warning systems, leading cyber test and evaluation for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program, and pioneering supply chain cyber risk analysis that informed program-level acquisition and policy decisions. He has led cross-functional teams of more than 35 engineers and cybersecurity professionals across the United States Air Force, Northrop Grumman, and multiple federal agencies. His technical expertise spans DevSecOps, secure software development for classified platforms, enterprise NIST Risk Management Framework implementation, security auditing, advanced persistent threat mitigation, and Zero Trust architecture design for next-generation space defense programs. He has led certification and accreditation of multinational and NATO coalition networks and directed digital transformation initiatives that strengthened operational resilience in contested and high-consequence environments. Prior to his current position, Dr. Tun served as Cybersecurity Program Director for classified national security portfolios valued at $800 million at a senior U.S. Government agency in Washington, D.C.

Prior to his federal service career, Dr. Tun served as Senior Space System Engineer and Cybersecurity Integration Team Lead at Northrop Grumman, Redondo Beach, California, where he governed enterprise cybersecurity systems engineering across multiple classified national security space programs totaling $2.3 billion, including the Next Generation Polar OPIR missile warning system. He directed a cross-functional team of 35 engineers delivering cybersecurity compliance and risk management solutions achieving zero critical authorization failures across all program phases. He also serves as a Graduate and Executive Education instructor at the University of Southern California, Sol Price School of Public Policy, where he teaches cybersecurity governance, intelligence policy, and national security decision-making at the graduate level.
