Defense Security and Deterrence Policy – USC SHIELD

The USC SHIELD Executive Forum is a global defense and deterrence policy program – developing leaders in policy, space, and technology innovations for national and global security.
This joint program at the University of Southern California (USC) includes the Sol Price School of Public Policy and the Viterbi School of Engineering. The 8-month program, part of our executive program offerings, educates aspiring senior leaders from the military, government, and innovative technological communities about the intersection of public policy and engineering. It is intended to close the widening gap between theory and the practical applications of national security constructs, including new challenges from the burgeoning use of space for civilian and military uses.
USC SHIELD is taught by USC’s renowned faculty in policy and engineering. The program also attracts active duty and retired flag and general officers as guest speakers to help shape the capstone projects prepared by the participants under the supervision of the faculty. The capstone projects are timely research where participants tackle some of the most wicked challenges of space and deterrence policy.
